Alberta Transportation has a reputation for being very rigid and conservative in our standards and approvals. In this presentation, I will provide examples in and around Calgary where we have shown a willingness to consider or implement improvements that are outside of our usual practice. They are not intended to set a precedent for use in other locations, but because of the circumstances and the site specific constraints, they were considered to be the most cost effective solution to address the issues at hand while protecting the safety and operation of the highway.
